In preparation for packing I have checked the Weather
Channel (predictions are temps in the 80s with scattered thunderstorms) and
selected a number of great AAIDD publications to present to the professionals
that the delegation will meet.
My advance reading suggests that that Brazil offers a number
of cash benefit (poverty reduction rather than individualized budget) programs
for individuals with disabilities and their families.
I look forward to seeing the implementation of the national
motto of Brazil, “Ordem e Progresso” (Order and Progress), which was inspired
by French philosopher Auguste Comte's motto: "Love as a principle and
order as the basis; progress as the goal."
